Introducing Myself

I started this blog to share whatever happens to be on my mind at the moment — musings, feelings, experiences, information I've discovered, opinions, or whatever else I might be thinking about. Not everything, of course! But lots of stuff gets into my head and I wish I had someone to share it with. Maybe some folks will even find some of this stuff useful or interesting.

Allow me to introduce myself. I'm middle aged, single, work full time, and have a large family with lots of nieces and nephews. I started out as a special education teacher, then changed careers and am now an Information Technology Specialist, working for Uncle Sam. That's a fancy way of saying I'm a computer programmer.

I'm a voracious reader, as you'd know if you saw the piles of books and magazines around my place. Let's see... I read science fiction, mystery, humor, religion, self-help, technology. I don't care for romance, and I won't go near horror. I rarely watch TV, but do like an occasional movie. I also enjoy knitting, crochet, and needlepoint, although I don't do them as much as I used to. I can cook when I set my mind to it, but I inherited my mom's distaste for it. I have two cockatiels (small parrots) named Joey and Petree, and I'm into African violets.

I'm a Protestant Christian but don't affiliate myself with any particular denomination. I have charismatic leanings; I've attended Catholic, Baptist, Nazarene, Pentecostal, Assemblies of God, and non-denominational churches; I question some popular Christian teachings and hold to some others that might not be quite so widely accepted.

Politically, I'm a conservative. I really would have liked to see Sarah Palin in office as Vice President!

I have a hearing impairment. I was born with normal hearing, lost most of it as a child, and now have dual cochlear implants, which make me functionally hard of hearing. I also have less than perfect eyesight and don't drive.

Well, that's it for today, folks. Hope I've given enough information to give you an idea of the kind of person I am.
